First of all, much respect to those who quilt regularly, it’s not easy but worth the effort. With that said I probably will not make another quilt but I am thinking about making a bunch of throw pillows out of each quilting block, so my guy can play minecraft in his bed.
So my quilt took months (working on it on and off) plus it was double sided because I thought it would save money (definitely not time). I already had the fabric to cut (scraps mostly) but nothing big enough for the back, so it’s both sided.
So I got most of my block from a limited pattern (Minecraft-quilt-16-inch-blocks) plus I made some up from photos on Pinterest (Minecraft Bedroom Board). So the bigger (8X8) blocks are 2 1/2 inches by 2 1/2 inches to make the pixels. The 2 smaller quilting blocks (axe and sword) are 1 1/2 inches by 1 1/2 inches, these are very hard to make.
Heart (made from my own design)
Skeleton (I have 6 different grays and black)
Enerman (my own design) (4 different blacks and 2 purples)
Blue Creeper (I copied the regular creeper but changed it to blue)
Water (it’s a bunch of blues and greens and teals)
Creeper (from the block pattern above)
Dirt (from the link above)
Diamond Ore (I copied it from the emerald ore from the pattern)
Zombie (from the link above)
Emerald ore (from the link above)
TNT (from the link above plus I added the letters with heat bond)
Sheep (From the link above)
Lava (from the Link above)
Pig (from the link above)
Layout it put it together
The gold spacers are 2 1/2 inches by 2 1/2 inches, the boards are 2 1/2 inches by 16 1/2 inches. The whole board I sewed on as I went so I didn’t measure, it is 2 1/2 inches wide. I did the same with the black board, it was 3 inches wide, I think it should have been wider I think. I sewed it on like bias tape, machine sewed it on one side then folded it over, ironed it, and hand sewed it down with an invisible stitch.
I hand tied the corners of almost each block with matching floss, so they blend in. This is part was VERY time consuming because I had to line both sides up.
